This concept identity design stems from a menu design project for Publication Design II. After the menu project finished, I expanded philtre into a full concept cafe, with window, packaging and poster designs.
"Philtre" is a word for a drink that is meant to arouse love, or a love potion. The idea of coffee being a love potion was the key inspiration for the brand. The whimsical elements of the menu names, slogan, and sparkle logo are balanced out with a simple color palette to keep the magic theme from feeling too over the top. Finally, the typography is fun and retro, with a textured typeface that has variable widths, and a simple typewriter font for everything else.
After creating the menu for my Publication Design class, I decided to expand out Philtre into a full concept brand, with signs, packaging and window designs.
