The Creative Studio is a collection of the nine creative majors at Champlain College. It's mission is to bring the different creative and communication majors together at Champlain College, giving students from different areas the chance to collaboration on projects both in and out of school.
In fall 2022, I started my role as a Strategic Communication Specialist for the Creative Studio, giving it a visual redesign that highlights the collaborative aspect that the studio aims to inspire within its students, while highlighting the different majors they come from.
The mark for the Creative Studio is created by overlapping the marks for the 9 different majors, creating 36 unique marks. My inspiration was taken from the unique lighting fixtures in Champlain College's Center for Communication and Creative Media, the building that serves as the Creative Studio's home.
Looking at the lights from below, the long light bulbs go in every direction, making these different shapes in the negative space. I used these shapes to create the marks for the individual major, with the two black lines representing the lights that made the angles.
The mark for the Creative Studio is made from overlapping two of the individual major marks. When they overlap, a new color is created. This overlap is what the Creative Studio strives for, bringing people together to create something new. The Creative Studio has 36 distinct marks, that can be used to represent the studio as a whole, or showcase events and projects brought by two of the majors collaborating together.
While in this role at the Creative Studio, I designed pamphlets for admitted students day, stickers, and posters. The Creative Studio identity was also used in presentations for prospective students.
